AND-E creates new Chief Product Innovation Officer role

Phil Norris appointment aligns with focus on innovation for connected mobility: ‘Every Journey Protected’

London, October 2023: Underlining its mission of ‘Every Journey Protected’ – when people move, their journeys should be safe and hassle-free – Aioi Nissay Dowa Europe (AND-E), has created the new role of Chief Product Innovation Officer.  Phil Norris, who has been with the AND-E business for nearly two decades, has been appointed to this new position, reporting to Michael Kainzbauer, Group CEO.

AND-E has readied itself for the fast pace of change in the motor insurance marketplace through a combination of acquisition, collaboration and in-house development. This includes the partnership and investment with Oxa, the autonomous software provider, and the creation of the Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford in collaboration with machine learning experts, Mind Foundry. Now, as the mobility marketplace shifts, with advances in new drivetrains and autonomous solutions becoming a reality, the role of adaptable and innovative protection solutions becomes ever-more critical. The new role of Chief Production Innovation Officer is designed to ensure the AND-E business can capitalise on the opportunities this new future brings.

AND-E is dedicated to simplifying the insurance experience, offering straightforward policies, easy claims processes and user-friendly tools to help customers navigate insurance with ease. It is also embracing technology to make tomorrow’s journeys smarter. Telematics, data analytics and innovative solutions are harnessed to promote safe driving habits, offer personalised coverage, and enhance the overall driving experience. The aim is to make motor insurance not just a necessity, but a valuable and intelligent companion on every journey.

Phil Norris and his team will ensure that every new product and service fits AND-E’s business strategy and vision to lead the way in connected mobility protection. The entire product development process, from the assessment and scoping of original ideas through to launch will be overseen by the Product Innovation team. They will also drive the product vision and strategy, working collaboratively with all parts of the business across the European Group.

“The mobility market is entering an exciting phase and AND-E has a strong track record to deliver protection solutions that are fit for purpose,” explained Phil Norris. “My new role will bring together commercial, market and future insight from both within and outside the business to identify, develop and deliver the right products to meet the ever-changing market needs.”

Michael Kainzbauer, Group CEO at AND-E added:

“With his extensive experience across several aspects of the AND-E business, including Toyota Financial Services and its mobility business, Kinto, Phil Norris is well placed to lead the new Group Product Innovation team. It is critical that, to remain at the forefront of the mobility protection space, we look both within and outside our organisation. In the role of Chief Product Innovation Officer, Phil will be the catalyst to do this, aligning our capabilities and infrastructure so that we can develop and deliver solutions that meet the needs of our current and future customers.”
